Hi I’m James

I’m a fully certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Pilates Instructor based in Norwich, UK. I’ve been helping people on their movement journey since 2008, both in the UK and around the world. I have worked with adults experiencing persistent back pain, neurological challenges, scoliosis, injuries, chronic fatigue, and those recovering from surgery, living with Parkinson’s, and recovering from strokes. I’ve also worked with athletes, musicians, dancers, and models.

Regardless of movement or fitness experience, I find that students share similar goals: to become happier in their bodies and more efficient in the things they love to do.

What is Feldenkrais?
The Feldenkrais Method is a gentle, movement-based approach to improving how you move, feel, and sense yourself.

Rather than pushing, stretching, or strengthening, it focuses on learning — helping you become more aware of your movement habits and discover easier, more efficient ways of moving.

Through slow, guided explorations, you develop a clearer sense of how your body is organised, so that everyday actions begin to feel lighter, more comfortable, and more connected.

What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method for learning how to move your body with greater power, organisation, efficiency, and awareness.

It uses a beautifully curated series of movement patterns in all directions, helping you develop coordination, control, and endurance through the spine.

Rather than creating strength through effort or compression, Pilates encourages power with length — an organised, responsive way of moving that makes everyday actions feel smoother, lighter, and more efficient.

• Do you sometimes feel disconnected from your body?

• Has your movement changed over time? Injured?

• Perhaps you are managing a longterm health condition and not sure if joining a regular fitness class is safe or valuable.

Key Benefits of Pilates and the Feldenkrais Method®

Pilates and the Feldenkrais Method offer different but complementary ways of improving how you move, feel, and function. Whether you’re looking to reduce pain, move more easily, or simply feel more at home in your body, both approaches can be remarkably effective for a wide range of people.

Improved Mobility
Both Pilates and Feldenkrais help you move with greater ease and freedom by exploring movement in different directions and improving how the body is organised. Rather than forcing flexibility, you learn how to move more efficiently through your spine and whole body, which can make everyday actions feel smoother and less effortful.

Pain Reduction
Feldenkrais, in particular, takes a gentle, awareness-based approach that can help reduce unnecessary effort and muscular tension. By improving how you sense and organise movement, it often becomes clearer when to pause, adjust, or find an easier way. Over time, this can ease patterns of strain, helping you move with less discomfort and more confidence.

Enhanced Body Awareness
At the heart of both methods is learning — developing a clearer sense of how your body moves and how it is organised in action. This increased awareness can lead to better coordination, improved posture, and a more responsive, connected way of moving, whether in exercise or everyday life.

Stress Relief
With their slower, more attentive pace, both Pilates and Feldenkrais encourage a shift away from effort and towards ease. Many people find that this not only improves physical movement, but also brings a sense of calm, clarity, and space — a chance to step out of habitual tension and feel more settled in themselves.

1:1 Sessions or Group Classes?

What are the Benefits and which would be the best for you?

We start with a chat:

  • What are your movement goals? What would you love to achieve?

  • What’s holding you back?

  • If you could imagine how you would like to feel or sense yourself in the future, what would that be like?

I recommend a 1:1 to begin. We tailor your session to discover what you already do well and assess where there might be gaps in your movement knowledge and awareness.

Setting clear and specific goals helps us move forward to help you make the most of your lessons and get you to where you want to be in your movement and wellness journey.

1:1 sessions are available by appointment at Clarence House, NR1, Norwich, Norfolk.

Individual sessions cost £70 for a 60-minute session.

Email me to discuss your needs and to book either a 15-minute telephone consultation or a 1:1 session.
