Hi I’m James

I’m a fully certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Pilates Instructor based in Norwich, UK. I’ve been helping people on their movement journey since 2008, both in the UK and around the world. I have worked with adults experiencing persistent back pain, neurological challenges, scoliosis, injuries, chronic fatigue, and those recovering from surgery, living with Parkinson’s, and recovering from strokes. I’ve also worked with athletes, musicians, dancers, and models.

Regardless of movement or fitness experience, I find that students share similar goals: to become happier in their bodies and more efficient in the things they love to do.

• Do you sometimes feel disconnected from your body?

• Has your movement changed over time? Injured?

• Perhaps you are managing a longterm health condition and not sure if joining a regular fitness class is safe or valuable.

The Feldenkrais Method® is a relaxing form of movement training, designed for everyBODY regardless of age or experience.

Feldenkrais is unique to every other movement modality or form of physical therapy as its primary tool is awareness.

It helps you move better by breaking larger movements down into smaller, more manageable pieces, and encourages you to pay attention to HOW you perform them.

Mindful in its practise. Remarkable in its results.

Key Benefits of Pilates and The Feldenkrais Method®

The Feldenkrais and Pilates Method can be incredibly useful for everybody. The work feels great for all bodies and minds.

Improved Mobility

Feldenkrais can significantly enhance mobility by teaching individuals how to move more freely and efficiently. This is particularly beneficial for those recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic stiffness. Read More

Pain Reduction

The mindful and awareness component of the method stimulates the resting nervous system, which reduces the pain mechanisms of muscle guarding and fight-or-flight hormonal responses. This increased awareness helps us recognize when to stop, reassess, and find another way. Students are always encouraged to stop and rest if they feel discomfort. Read More

Enhanced Body Awareness

Feldenkrais and Pilates foster a deep connection between the mind and body. Improved body awareness can lead to better posture, coordination, and overall physical performance. Read More

Stress Relief

The mindful, slow-paced nature of Feldenkrais and Pilates exercises promotes relaxation and stress reduction. Participants often experience a sense of calm and mental clarity after sessions. Read More

1:1 Sessions or Group Classes?

What are the Benefits and which would be the best for you?

We start with a chat:

  • What are your movement goals? What would you love to achieve?

  • What’s holding you back?

  • If you could imagine how you would like to feel or sense yourself in the future, what would that be like?

I recommend a 1:1 to begin. We tailor your session to discover what you already do well and assess where there might be gaps in your movement knowledge and awareness.

Setting clear and specific goals helps us move forward to help you make the most of your lessons and get you to where you want to be in your movement and wellness journey.

1:1 sessions are available by appointment at Clarence House, NR1, Norwich, Norfolk.

Individual sessions cost £70 for a 60-minute session.

Email me to discuss your needs and to book either a 15-minute telephone consultation or a 1:1 session.

In my students words...

"I had tried various forms of alternative help for my back.. After what seemed a fairly short time my lower back problem became much better. "As a teacher he is genuinely passionate about making the classes engaging and fun as well as making use of creative imagery to enhance your bodily awareness. He is furthermore truly considerate and caring towards his students and makes sure to give you relevant individual feedback. I’d highly recommend him as a customer and as a colleague." - Maria Jardardottir
